Happy 4th of July! As Scots, we experienced our first celebration of American independence day in Monday! The day started as normal day in the life of a college intern in Pisaq. Morning runs at 7, followed by teaching at both Tambo and Divino, the local schools.

We taught a new class at Divino. This was different to the younger classes we are used to. The kids were keen to learn and were enthusiastic. However, this posed new challenges, as we needed more material as they grasped things much quicker. We managed to adapt our activities to the older students who aren’t as keen on some of the more playful games. It was nice to engage with them on an adult level. I think they appreciated this, as they felt respected.

After a busy day at the STRIVE centre, where there were more pupils than chairs, we enjoyed some therapeutic runs along the sacred valley.

To celebrate the fourth of July in style, we splurged on the most attractive tourist restaurant in Pisaq! Some meat was well appreciated and got rid of our desire for some familiar homely food! Tyler spoilt us and surprised us with one of the enigmatic cakes from Sophie’s, the local bakery which we pay a visit to every evening after dinner.
