This fall my girlfriend and I are embarking on a three month road trip around the continental USA.  Katrina (a new member to the ranks of unemployed) recently quit her job in the corporate world after a rigorous 18-month savings plan to allow her to pursue a year of exploration and travel.    I, being the young entrepreneur that I am, seized on the opportunity to tag along on this whirlwind of travel (at a reduced cost to me) as well as seize an opportunity to spread the good name of STRIVE throughout the nation.

The Fonthill Castle – not to be missed!

That being said, if you know of any good meets that you think I should be at, send me an email and I will do my best to make it happen!  My next destinations will be Raleigh, Charlotte,  Charleston, Savannah and Atlanta as we are currently following the East Coast down and plan on popping into XC races over the next two months, talking to kids about STRIVE and handing out some cool STRIVE swag.   Also, any cool travel tips/advice, restaurants, destinations that shouldn’t be missed, etc would be very welcome.  Just in case you forgot, I can be reached at nic@strivetrips.org.

At the moment, we have traveled through more than seven states and seen some amazing sites.  For those of you who live in the Pennsylvania area, I suggest a visit to Fonthill Castle, a concrete masterpiece designed and created by a self-made inspirational man by the name of Henry Mercer.  He created one of the most unique spaces  that I have ever visited without formal training in architecture, solely relying on trial and error,  extreme determination and willpower.  This is the type of dedication we love to see from our STRIVE participants and alums.  You are some of the amazing people and all of us over at STRIVE know that you will achieve so much during your lifetimes.  Remember that you are the face of your generation and you have the ability to change people’s lives.  Use that tool to make the world a better place.
