Weekly Summary – 91 miles in 10 runs. A bit of a hectic week with lots of travel. Building the mileage back up as I start thinking about the spring season. In Quito by the end of the week for a bit of winter training retreat to help get back in the swing of things!

Lunes, 22 de Febrero, 2016 – 12pm: Slept super late for like 12 hours. Needed that after a long day of travel. Ran easy on Matt’s loop – nice day, not too cold in the 50s. Felt pretty good and running around 4’00/km by the middle. Ran one pickup of 5km in ~17’15 at the end to see how that pace would feel. Not too bad. Finished with 1km easy. Total run 11M in 67’.

5pm: Easy run out/back on MVN. Felt good, running quicker ~3’40s by the end. 5M in 32’. Total run 5M++ in 35’.

Martes, 23 de Febrero, 2016 – AM: Test workout today to see if there’s any feasibility to run Caumsett. Goal was to run 20-30km at a relaxed 50km race pace. Went very badly. Legs not ready at all. 3’30/km felt like 3’10. Stopped at 14km to catch breath and change shoes (from flats into cliftons to see if that would feel better). Muscled through 30km in 1h45 but it felt very bad and not relaxed at all. Can’t force it. Will not run Caumsett. Total run 21M+.

Miercoles, 24 de Febrero, 2016 – AM: Easy run around CC to do some errands (go to the bank, post office, etc.). Felt pretty bad. Total run 3M+.

PM: Ran to the apple store and back to pick up new phone. Got caught in absurd apocolyptic thunderstorm on the way back which was terrifying and almost got blown off the road. Ran very fast because I was terrified. Total run 3M.

Jueves, 25 de Febrero, 2016 – AM: OFF. Very early (4:15am) wake up for early flight DCA to FLL to visit Mariana’s grandparents.

3pm: Ran with Mariana around her grandparent’s neighborhood. Felt pretty brutal at first and ran super slow ~23’ for 4km. Ran second same loop solo and felt surprisingly good and ran 16’. Total run 5M in 39’.

Viernes, 26 de Febrero, 2016 – 9am: Slept very well last night. Ran from Mariana’s grandparents’ house solo. Felt a bit sluggish but was going at a good clip after 15-20 min. Ended up running farther than I’d planned and feeling quite good the second half. This is good! Total run 10M in 67’.

PM: OFF, drove to FLL airport and flew to Quito. Also almost got detained in FLL security because something in my bag triggered a false-positive for explosives. Took almost 2 hours to get through security between the line and the ridiculous hassle after that. Glad I allowed an absurd amount of time!

Sabado, 27 de Febrero, 2016 – AM: OFF. Made it to Quito LATE last night (got to bed around 3am). Went up to Teleferiqo with David and Marissa. Some walking around there and then around town.

4pm: Ran around La Carolina. Felt pretty sluggish at first but felt better every lap. Running much quicker last lap ~3’40s and then one km fast to finish in 3’15. Total run 10M+ in 67’.

Domingo, 28 de Febrero, 2016 – 9:30am: Long run on the ciclopaseo in Quito. Ran north first all the way up the big hill to the end. First 5M in about 35’ but already progressing to faster. Much quicker down the big hill and then maintained ~4’00 or faster all the way south to El Ejido. Felt a bit tired and dehydrated last 30-40 minutes (no breakfast and no fluids on the run), but finished strong. Total run 20M in 2h05.

5pm: Easy shakeout around the hood, up to the gym (which was closed) and then around La Carolina finishing at the grocery store and walked home. A lot of time on feet today walking around the city with David and Marissa. Total run 5km, 3M+ in 22’.
