We have a really cool new program going on this Fall at STRIVE called the STRIVE-Cast, a podcast which will explore running and life in general both in the STRIVE Community and beyond.
This week, we present our first (rough) attempt at this and we promise that the quality of the content far exceeds the quality of the recording. Marielle Hall, a star of both the STRIVE family and the outside world, was a group leader for STRIVE-Peru in 2013 before a breakout cross country and track season as a senior at the University of Texas. We (along many others) followed Marielle’s progress, culminating in her victory at the 2014 NCAA Track and Field Championships in the 5000m. Marielle is now running professionally, as her national title also earned her a post-collegiate sponsorship by Nike.

In this interview, we catch up with Marielle and talk through her incredible year, going over her success in cross country, where she felt she struggled the most, and what she learned that brought her to a national title and a 70 second 5k PR. Marielle credits to her persistence and level head and (of course) gives a shout-out to STRIVE for a great summer of high-altitude training!
