I’ll be representing the red-white-and-blue along with HOKA and STRIVE in Doha this December at the World Championships! (photo by Karyn Miller-Medzon, April 2015)

I am extremely honored, humbled, and excited to announce that I have been selected to represent my country, my sponsors (HOKA ONE ONE and STRIVE Trips), and all my friends, fans, and family at the 50km World Championships in Doha, Qatar on December 4th. This will be my first time competing on a US National Team – a goal that I had set for myself at the beginning of this year – and I couldn’t be more excited to see what I can do against the World’s best.

This selection is particularly meaningful for me, as I suffered a hamstring tear in my only previous attempt at this distance at the US National Championship. During that cold and snowy day back in March, I considered dropping out, but hobbled my way through the last 36km to finish in 2nd place – two miserable hours that now seem so worthwhile.

As I continue my long build-up towards the US Olympic Marathon Trials in February, competing at the 50km World Championships will give me a great early opportunity to test my strength and race against some great runners. This race fits in perfectly with several others I have scheduled in these next six months as I continue to build my strength and sharpen my speed.

Many thanks to USA Track and Field for selecting me to represent the USA – every athlete’s dream. Thanks also to my sponsors, HOKA ONE ONE and STRIVE Trips, for their continued support. And, of course, thank you to my family, friends, and fans for always being there alongside me in this incredible journey. Please continue to follow along and we’ll see where this road takes us.

Much love,
Ty
