This entry marks the final blog for STRIVE Kenya 2018. These past three weeks have been unforgettable for the group: we have had countless laughs, had so many unique adventures, and learned so much about service projects. We thought it would be a great idea to get each group member’s favorite memory from the trip to cap off the blog, so here goes:

High School Student-Athletes—Peter, Jason, Sarah, Tasha, Sophie, Natalie

Peter: “Laughing while playing mafia with the whole group”

Jason: “Watching the Croatia/England game with Kipsang and Timo and learning about their running philosophies. Also hearing that Timo wants to have 12 kids”

Sarah: “Watching the World Cup final with Betsy Saina”

Tasha: “Running in the pouring rain and meeting new people”

Sophie: “It’s hard to pick one memory but I enjoyed interacting with the local people”

Natalie: “The trip to Eldoret, specifically the Imani Workshop and the Crisis Pregnancy Center”

Interns—Cam, Fran, Colin, Cat, Laurel

Cam: “Our trip to Saiwa Swamp and the Kitali Nature Conversancy. The swamp was very beautiful and the Nature Conversancy was very weird and I loved it.”

Fran: “Spending my birthday with some now really good friends, Cam the Biffer, Colin, Cat, Nick, and Robinson- although not getting cold water on me”

Colin: “All of the great banter with Timo, Nick, the Love Island Crew, and everyone else”

Cat: “Running the fartlek and watching the football game with Kipsang as he supported England!”

Laurel: “Running and having kids give me high fives”

Trip Leaders—Kriz and Rob

Kriz: “Bumping into Jake Robertson, a fellow Kiwi, in an Iten running store”

Rob: “Seeing the team bond during STRIVE talks”

We hope that you have enjoyed reading our blog and following us along on our journey in Kenya. It was a remarkable opportunity that we are all grateful to have had and we look forward to seeing our families very soon.

Kwaheri (goodbye), Kenya!
